Ballet Project 2014: Part 6 – Mohonk Gatehouse
This is part 6 of the 2014 edition of the Ballet Project. This is a series I shot last summer and fall. These photos comprise ballet poses at beautiful unexpected locations around the Hudson Valley and Catskills region of New York State. Check back weekly for new posts on the Ballet Project.
We stopped on one of our trips last summer at the old Mohonk Gatehouse just outside of New Paltz. I have always wanted to check this location out but never had the time. We were driving by on our way to a planned location when we spotted the gatehouse. As we walked up to the structure I noticed the sun beaming over the tower. This was the first shot below and my favorite.
We did have several hikers walk by and watch us for a bit. Wondering just what it was ballerinas were doing outdoors. After shooting from both sides of the gatehouse we continued down the dirt road to our next shoot. Check the next posting for that location.
